Indian kebabs

And back to India. This saturday we had a friend over for dinner and I decided to go all Indian. We began with bhaji (see the recipe in my blog) and these Indian kebabs. Then went over the cookbook sold me as beef curry and it turned out to be the vindaloo we used to get from the Indian delivery service (uh-huh, they’re all set with their ideas…). But less chit-chatting and more of the recipe…


  • ground lamb (or beef)
  • chickpeas
  • garlic
  • onion
  • ginger
  • chillies
  • white cumin
  • nutmeg
  • coriander
  • fresh mint
  • lemon juice
  • egg
  • salt&pepper
  • cucumber
  • yoghurt


  1. drain the chickpeas and mash them in a bowl;
  2. chop very finely onion, ginger, garlic and chillies, start with browning the onion and adding ginger, garlic and chillies after a few minutes;
  3. add the cooked ingredients to the bowl with the chickpeas, add the ground meat, and all other ingredients except the cucumber and the yoghurt;
  4. form little patties and put them in the frigde to marinate for at least a couple of hours;
  5. cook them in a pan and serve with some raita: yoghurt with chopped mint, salt, pepper and white cumin.
