Fried octopus

Fried octopus

So couple of days ago it was my birthday and hubby was going all secret on me about what he got me and about the fact, that he already bought me a present and that I should guess (and obviously never find out). Finally the day came and he arrived with a massive box and a bag, telling me, I know that you said you didn’t want one, but I also know that deep deep down you did, and I got a deep fat fryer. This is one of the first things I prepared with it.

Ingredients:

  • octopus
  • egg
  • mustard
  • soy sauce
  • flour
  • milk
  • lemon juice
  • salt&pepper

Method:

  1. cook the octopus in a pot with boiling water accordingly to its size (smaller ones take 20-25 min, the bigger ones up to 50 min);
  2. take it out, let it cool and cut it into small chunks about 3-5cm;
  3. prepare the batter beating egg and a little bit of milk, adding mustard, soy sauce, flour and salt&pepper;
  4. fry the chunks and serve with a little bit of lemon juice on the side.
