Chocolate minicake with cardamom chocolate frosting

This one goes out to the chocaholics 😉 Chocolate three ways! It’s an interesting combination, chocolate and cardamom. And the little hint of vanilla in the batter and the frosting rounds it all up. The minicake is very rich in chocolate and also has hand cut chocolate chips.


  • 190g sugar
  • 200g flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 150ml milk
  • 50g butter
  • 60g cocoa
  • 50g chocolate chips
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • icing sugar
  • butter
  • chocolate powder
  • cardamom
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract


  1. mix the butter and the sugar until fluffy, add the eggs and the vanilla extract;
  2. mix all the dry ingredients (except the chips) separately and add one third at the time alternating with the milk;
  3. at the end fold in the chocolate chips and pour in the papercake forms;
  4. cook for 20-25 minutes at 180 °C (preheated), take out and leave to cool;
  5. for the frosting mix icing sugar, chocolate powder and butter and add a little bit of cardamom and a couple of teaspoons of vanilla extract and decorate.
