Chocolate muffin with ganache

Chocolate muffin with ganache

This is really the last Halloween recipe for this year, I swear! But I just came across this most simple recipe for preparing ganache that I had to do this last one (plus I had to use up the fondant I bought just for halloween….)

  • 200g flour
  • 190g sugar
  • 50g butter
  • 150ml milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 60g cocoa powder
  • salt
  • 400g chocolate
  • 200ml cream
  • fondant to prepare the witches’ hats and the pumpkins

  1. prepare the chocolate muffins as usual and bake them in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 15-20 minutes, take out and leave to cool completely on a rack;
  2. to prepare the ganache put some chopped up chocolate and some cream in a bowl (microwave prooved) and give it 1 minute blasts for 4 times, always stirring 30 seconds in between, and leave to cool when it’s gone to the right consistency;
  3. cover with clean film and put it in the fridge to set (not too long, otherwise you’ll have to give it another short blast in the microwave);
  4. prepare your fondant figurines to put on top of the muffins (I had a loooot of help here 😉 );
  5. spread the ganache on top of the muffins and put either a pumpkin or a witches’ hat on top and serve.
