Chocolate cupcakes with chestnut frosting

Let’s leave the good intentions for a moment. We have the whole of 2017 to start with our good resolves. Let’s remember all the good stuff we had during the festivities, liver still hurting a bit from all the butter you shoved down your throat? No? I think from next week the tone will change around here. So let me give you a Happy New Year first. Secondly give you this recipe and we’ll see next week what happens, ok?


  • 200g flour
  • 190g sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 150ml of milk
  • 50g of butter
  • salt
  • baking powder
  • 60g cocoa
  • 125g of butter
  • 450g of icing sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla paste
  • 50g of chestnut purée
  • 1 spoon of milk


  1. prepare the usual batter mixing the sugar and butter, adding the eggs and after that the dry ingredients and the milk;
  2. bake at 180°C for 20 minutes, leave to cool completely;
  3. prepare the frosting by beating the butter and adding the icing sugar 1 cup at the time, at the end add the chestnut purée and check the consistency adding some milk;
  4. pipe the frosting on the cupcakes and decorate with the chocolate sprinkles.
