Halloween is just around the corner, time to prep some unusual treats……


Toxic waste macarons

  • 3 egg whites
  • 128g of ground almonds
  • 256g od powdered sugar
  • 40g of normal sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • food coloring
  • 70g butter
  • 250g icing sugar
  • salt
  • mountain dew



sift the powdered sugar and the ground almonds and leave in a bowl;


separate the eggs and beat the eggs whites for 4 minutes, and then slowly the normal sugar and beat for another 4 minutes, add the food coloring;


then add the pinch of salt and (about 1/3rd at the time) the sugar/almond mix;


put the mixture in a piping bag and pipe little rounds on a baking sheet (on a baking tray), use two trays to ensure perfect macarons;


tap vigorously so that all the air bubbles go away and let rest for 30 minutes;


preheat the oven at 150 °C and cook them on the top shelf for 20 minutes;


sift some powdered sugar and mix with butter (and food coloring, if you so wish) add the mountain dew 1 spoon at a time;


once they're cooked, assemble the macarons and serve.
